Even before I could post it myself, one of the RA members of my minyan posted the same RA notice as the above on the minyan email “bulletin board”. So I think word about this bill is certainly getting out.

I sent my first one off. Even though these emails are probably not read, I modified mine to add that I have a personal stake in this. You see, I lived in Israel for a summer as a non-Jew 15 years ago, and although I have no immediate plans to make aliyah, I’d certainly want to have that option available. A number of families and now-adult children from my two minyanim have made aliyah in recent years. It saddens me that a number of very committed Jews in my minyan who happen to be JBC could in the future have barriers to making aliyah as well.
