  1. Judging from the information on the banner, it sounds like it would have been a great experience. Avi, Tamara, anyone, how did it go?

  2. Hi Rivkah,

Sorry for the delay in commenting. The day went quite well. We walked over to the park from shul. It’s just down the street. We set up under a large semi-shady tree. People slowly started wandering over with their children and picnics in hand. By the height of the afternoon, our rabbi had counted 33 folks. What a great turnout! Avi should be pround.

People set up blankets, shmoozed, shared food, watched their kids on the playground, and just relaxed. It was a bit hot out and Avi was fighting a cold. Other than those two things, all went well.

The plan was to picnic and have a mini Torah study. However, our rabbi left the copies we were going to use for the study so she told a story relating to the portion and then we had a little question and answer session on kashrut.

The feedback we got was that it went well. I personally want to thank Mark, Cinthya, and Ami for coming and being supportive. If anyone else is going to be in L.A. the weekend of September 6th, we will be having our second Shabbat picnic that is open to members of our congregation AND of the community…so come out and join us!
