New/Re-Launched Discussions Forum
I’m not sure if anyone remembers but last March we launched a discussion forum here at JewsByChoice.org. Unfortunately our first attempt at a discussion forum only met with limited success, so we’ve decided to start everything over from scratch. Essentially we’ve scrapped the old Discussion Forum software and replaced it with something we believe is a better fit with this blog, its contributors and of course you our readers. We are now using something called bbPress, and although it’s pretty stripped down at the moment, it’s already much more user-friendly and robust than what we had previously been using.
Here are a few examples of what our new Discussions Forum has to offer.
- RSS Feeds: Our new discussion forum has a much more flexible RSS feed system which basically means, that users can subscribe to discussions in numerous ways, therefore allowing them more customized and focused access to the information they want via feed subscriptions.
- Tagging: Our new discussion forum allows users and moderators to assign multiple tags to individual post topics. This will allow readers to find and sort the information they’re looking for much quicker than they were able to with our old forum system.
- Gravatars’: Now just like our blog the discussion forums also use Gravatar’s which means users can now have their own user image displayed whenever they start a topic or reply to one with a comment.
The biggest benefit of our new forum software is that it’s something that can be built on and you can rest assured that we will be adding new features regularly, so keep your eye out for new functionality and options over the next couple of months.
Forums provide the perfect environment for meeting other like-minded individuals and more importantly they’re the perfect place for asking questions about conversion and Judaism or if you have answers, the perfect place to share them.
We already have a handful of interesting discussion started so please feel free to check them out on our new forum and of course please also feel free to sign up for an account, so you can join in on the discussion.
