Audio: BBC Radio Does a Whole lot of Jewish
I know that I have been throwing up a fair number of mini posts as of late. What can I say when it rains it pour’s. Honestly, I’m just trying to FYI you all about (what I consider to be) interesting online Jewish audio and video. I kind of think that (as a JBC) its important to learn about Jewish life and culture in as many ways as is possible and for me this includes, learning a little about what’s going on “Jewishly” in the rest of the world.
Anyhow I’m listening to another audio as I sit here typing this and its pretty interesting. The Program is called the Sunday Religious News and is described as.
“presenting religious news and analysis into the top stories from the UK and abroad. From Christianity to Islam, Hinduism to Judaism, every week“.
I find it fascinating to learn about Jewish life in the UK. In some ways it’s very different but in other ways they are dealing with the same kinds of problems, not to mention opportunities that we are here in North America.
Anyhow here is the program summery as seen on my RRS reader, with the Jewish content bolded by me.
Roger Bolton out and about at the rehearsal of the Philharmonic Holocaust memorial event for this Sunday special from Liverpool; Interview with Sheila Noonan on the situation with Catholic schools in Dublin; Package from Trevor Barnes on the decline in the Jewish Population in Liverpool and nationally; Discussion with Tobias Ellwood MP and Abdul Qureshi from Lancashire Council of Mosques; Package from Matt Wells looking at who is likely to get the Jewish vote in Florida (This item is not available as part of this Podcast for copyright reasons -however it is available on the Sunday programme website via the listen again facility: http:/www.bbc.co.uk/religion/programmes/sunday); Interview with Diane Samuels - co-author of the play 3 Sisters on Hope Street; Interview with the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Anyhow you can check out the rest their round up over here.
Enjoy and please feel free to let me know if you enjoy these audio video FYI posts.
NOTE: I think the BBC takes down their podcast’s after week, so if you are interested, you might want to listen to this one, sooner rather than later.
This is the most colorful post we’ve had. And I mean that literally
Thanks for the FYI, Avi!
